About
The Davis Chorale was founded in 1978 as a community chorus providing an opportunity for adults to sing oratorio, sacred and secular works.
Since then, the Chorale has performed in numerous special events, along with its regular performances in the fall, winter and spring. Alison Skinner has been the director since 2010, succeeding Rachel Day Kessler, who was the founding director of the Chorale.
The Chorale has performed with other instrumental and choral groups, such as the Sacramento Youth Symphony and the UC Davis Symphony and Chorus.
The Chorale has also sung internationally in Vienna, the Czech Republic, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Italy. Guest conductors have included Richard Brunelle, Robert Kuzminski, Mel Olsen, Roger Wagner, John Rutter, Jean Berger, D. Kern Holloman, Jeffrey Thomas and Andrew Carter.
Ellen Schinnerer Deffner has been the Chorale’s accompanist since 1997.
